Including Children with Special Needs and/or Disabilities in After School Programs: It’s All About Belonging – Part 2 Visual Supports

Learn how to use visual supports in after school programs. Visual supports are a wide variety of cues that can be seen to enable an individual to perform skills with greater independence. Participants will learn how to use a variety of visual supports with children who have various needs in their programs.
Participants will receive downloadable course materials and instructions to make visual supports for their program. Activities to create program expectations will be shared. The training will include: the definition, purpose, benefits and implementation strategies for a variety of visual supports. Participants will create an action plan to implement appropriate visual supports in their after school program.
