The California keepin’ it REAL Project!, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is partnering with educators to study the delivery of keepin’ it REAL - an evidence-based, multicultural drug-resistance and life skills curriculum for middle school students. The California keepin’ it REAL project will develop and evaluate training for teachers that supports the implementation of the keepin’ it REAL curriculum.
After school programs can participate in the project to benefit their students by delivering keepin’ it REAL, an effective substance-abuse prevention curriculum.
We are looking for 225 middle school educators in California to participate in this project. They will be randomly assigned to one of three training groups in which they will receive: 1) a one-day in-person training; 2) web-based training; or 3) self-directed training using the materials supplied with the curriculum.
Participating educators will receive a $250 stipend, a free copy of the keepin’ it REAL curriculum, including the video, teacher’s guide and student workbooks (in Spanish or English) as well as other benefits.
